These are signs, which served to old - latvians as a source of light, light carrier and protection from evil.

They always are in people`s weekday, in important works and events. Even today people need to have a sign and the presence of light, belief in good and light.

Nowadays, the candle is a ritual accessory and it is used for all important events in Latvian lifes.

The day belongs to the Sun.
The Sun is the main luminary in the latvian folklore and is the symbol for a eternal movement and the power of the life.
The Sun is seeing all and knowing all, she is the Mother and the Warmer of all childern.

The graphic mark of the Thunder is the Thundercross.
The Thunder is the tormentor of all the evil.
The Thundercross is the symbol for the cosmic movement and the ceative energy.

In the latvian folklore Usinsh is the mark for the end of Spring and the start of Summer.
Usinsh is the God of light and the Guardian of horses, his horses are the cabbies of the Sun.
When Usinsh rides over the mountain, the green lives again!

The night belongs to the Moon.
The Mooncross inheres the Power of a Guardian, it attaches the sky and the Powers of Richness.
The Moon is - as well as waxing, as waning - the sign of life and of extinction.

The grassnake is a guardian of cows and blesser of all the domestic animals.
In the look of the grass snake apears the mother of the earth - Mara - she is connected to the Easter natures awakening processes when the sun is taking over the darkness.
