DESIGN STUDIO „RIJADA” HAS THE PLEASURE TO INVITE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR NEW PROJECT „LETTERTALES”

In November 2009 I sent to my friend who lives on a thirty hours traveling distance a letter with some pictures. It was the beginning of an inspiring visual dialogue. There are things that are hard to put into words, so you have to use images. It was an exciting process, an enjoyable break from my digital daily routine.

The idea of involving more people in our game came naturally- we wanted to share the positive emotions that the process gave us. It was the beginning of the  LETTERTALES’ project.

We were intrigued to see, how different persons approach the task given to them- to do something with a bunch of pictures they receive by post from somebody they maybe even don’t know. Now we are inviting people to join us in the game.

It is our way to slow down a little bit the fast rhythm of this century, to communicate feelings expressed in two dimensions. We want to be taken in an unknown direction, to let the control go out of our hands. To risk, to get lost and find ourselves, again and again.

1. You can apply to participate in the project by sending your postal address to lettertales@rijada.lv.
You can also be invited by recieving an invitation by somebody you know.

2. You will receive a letter with five to ten images/ two dimensional objects as well as a copy of the description of the game.

3. You have to do something with the images that inspire you. Feel free to use any technique you like- drawing/ painting/ collage/ writing/ copying etc.

4. If you consider that your creation is finished, please send it back to RIJADA. If not, send it further to somebody you know- who would like to participate. Please put in the envelope also the pictures that you did not use + new ones you will add yourself.
